Mr. Charles Norris needs help finding a wife…

For he has the unfortunate habit of falling for each Season's loveliest debutante, only to have his heart broken when she weds another. Surely Lady Marjorie Penwhistle can help him. She's sensible, clever, knows the ton, and must marry a peer, which he is not. Since she's decidedly out of his reach, Charles is free to enjoy her refreshing honesty—and her unexpectedly enticing kisses…

Lady Marjorie Penwhistle doesn't want a husband…

At least not the titled-but-unbearable suitors her mother is determined she wed. She'd rather stay unmarried and look after her eccentric brother. Still, advising Mr. Norris is a most exciting secret diversion. After all, how hard will it be to match-make someone so forthright, honorable, and downright handsome? It's not as if she's in danger of finding Charles all-too-irresistible herself…

My Thoughts :)

This is my first Jane Goodger book and I enjoyed it. The Spinster Bride is the fourth book in the Lords and Ladies series, but it can be read as a standalone. While I briefly met the other characters they did not overshadow this story in any way, nor was I confused and felt like I needed to read the previous books. I will give the other books in the series a read.  That said, I liked this story.  Really loved that there was a story within a story. It made my enjoyment more complete, adding depth to The Spinster Bride that made it an engaging read. Charles and Marjorie were great characters, and I fell in love with Charles brashness and sweetness from the moment I met him. He laughed too loudly, was wealthy, very handsome, and did not stand on ceremony. He was also an honorable man, and though not a titled lord, I really liked him and was eager for him to get with Marjorie. She was a strong character and very likable. I thought she and Charles completed each other and I loved their chemistry.

Overall I enjoyed the plot and the romance. I recommend.

I was gifted an ARC via Netgalley for my honest opinion.

About Stacy Reid

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way, never give up on my dreams. When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese anime and playing video games with my love, Dusean.
