My Current Revision Playlist + Giveaway!!!

Posted 25 April, 2014 by Traci Douglass in Contests, Music / 6 Comments

Hey all!

If you checked out my post last week, you know that I’m nearing the end of revisions on my first contemporary romance, Liquidation. During the process, my trusty headphones and music are constant companions. For the somewhat lighter fare of my current project (versus say dark and dirty urban fantasy or angsty paranormal and suspense), I like a bit of pop fluff, thanks very much. ☺

So here are the songs currently in rotation on my revision playlist that keep my toes tapping and my fingers typing:

1. Girls Chase Boys – Ingrid Michaelson

(If you remember the classic Robert Palmer videos from the 80s, this one is a real gender-bending treat…)

2. Team – Lorde

3. Me and My Broken Heart – Rixton

4. Raging Fire – Philip Phillips

5. Word Up! – Little Mix

So, what’s on your current earworm playlist?

Tell me in the comments below and you’ll be entered for a chance to WIN your choice of one e-book title from my award-winning Seven Seals Series!!! Winner will be chosen next Friday, May 2nd, from all the commenters.

Good Luck and I can’t wait to hear from you! 😀

    • LOL, Rhenna. When I’m writing (or rewriting) I need instrumental stuff in the background. No lyrics, just music. It helps me block out the outside world and enter my own little universe of story. At that point, I don’t really even hear it, it just becomes white noise. But once I reach the revision stage, I welcome tunes with lyrics that match the mood of what I’m writing. It helps keep me from getting too nitpicky about every single word. Otherwise I’d never get anything done or published. :)

  1. Excellent taste in music, Traci! I’m a music-all-the-time girl too, and it depends on my mood, but right now I’m loving some Script, Skillet, and even though my daughter makes fun of me, I can listen to Ridin’ Solo over and over. It’s my guilty pleasure song. Don’t enter me in the giveaway! Someone who has yet to experience your writing awesomeness needs to win!

    • Love Script too, CJ. The above are just a sampling of my huge music collection and what appeals to me changes almost daily. I’m just fickle that way. LOL! :)

And I’m pretty blog authors and creators are excluded from the contest by default. 😉

  2. That music is way too happy for me! Ha! I also listen to music while writing, and I prefer songs that have few lyrics. The main thing I go for are moody, atmospheric sounds. Most movie soundtracks do a good job. :)

    • LOL, Trish! :) As I said, this is what I’m listening to now to get me through my Contemporary Rom-Com revisions. Happy is as happy does! Don’t worry. Later this week I’ll be switching back to work on my thesis project, a Paranormal Romantic Thriller, and then it’ll be angst and darkness–Florence and the Machine, Sick Puppies, and Drowning Pool all the way. And Prodigy, of course. Can’t forget the Firestarter baby. :)
