If you are an author, publisher, assistant, or PR rep, and have a book, comic book, or movie that you would like reviewed or spotlighted on Geeks in High School, please read the following information carefully before submitting your request.

Geeks in High School is a multi-author adult blog that focuses on several genres. We are more than happy to feature Young Adult tiles on the site, but please note that some of the content featured on this blog may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Review Policy

We are not professional reviewers; what we post are our personal honest opinions of what we liked, didn’t like, and why. We are not compensated in any way for our reviews. Unless otherwise stated, all titles featured on this blog were purchased by the reviewer. Submitting a request does not guarantee your project will be selected for review. And, we do not respond to all inquiries, please make sure that your project meets our criteria before contacting us.

Genres We Accept:

  • Romance (Contemporary, Historical, Suspense, Erotic, etc)
  • Dystopian
  • Paranormal (Urban Fantasy, Romance, Steampunk, etc)
  • Fantasy
  • Science Fiction
  • Horror
  • Mystery & Thrillers
  • Speculative Fiction

Formats:

Our review copy preference is for ebooks, followed by print copies. As such, digital ARCs/review copies will be given precedence over print copies. Our preferred format is EPUB or Mobi. Self-published books will be considered if it has been professionally edited. Please do not submit a copy of the book with your request, wait until you are contacted about a possible review.

We will never share, forward, copy, distribute, trade, or sell any of the titles received for review unless a giveaway is agreed on beforehand with the requester and will be a part of the post.

Rating System:

  • 5 Stars: Read this. NOW!
  • 4 Stars: Very good. Would recommend.
  • 3 Stars: Average.
  • 2 Stars: Pass.
  • 1 Star: Awful.
  • DNF: Did Not Finish.

Please note: We reserve the right not post reviews for projects that receive less than 2 stars. Most of us are authors too, and we want to help promote work, not bad mouth them. But, we are committed to providing honest reviews, and there’s a reader for every project, but maybe yours just wasn’t for us.

What To Include With Your Request:

  • Book title;
  • Series name and installment number (if applicable);
  • Synopsis;
  • Cover image;
  • Publisher;
  • Publication date;
  • Genre;
  • Length (words/pages);
  • Format;
  • Buy links, GoodReads, or more info URL;
  • Author bio;
  • Website, blog and social media links;
  • Author name & requester contact info;
  • Preferred reviewer (if applicable);
  • Preferred date of post (not mandatory);

Reviews Will Include The Following Information:

  • Book cover;
  • Title, author and series (if applicable);
  • Synopsis;
  • Publisher and publication date;
  • Buy links;
  • Rating;
  • Review;

Time Frame:

It’s recommended that you submit your request at least 3 weeks in advance. The more advanced notice we receive, the easier it will be to accommodate you.

Where Are Our Reviews Posted:

In addition to being featured on Geeks in High School, our reviews will be shared via our Geeks in High School and individual author social media outlets, and can be posted on various review/retailer sites upon request.

FTC Disclaimer:

In accordance with the new FTC Guidelines for blogging and endorsements, we would like everyone to know that while we do purchase my own books for review on occasion, most books are provided by the authors and/or publishers. We do specify which ones were provided for free. The books that do not say how they were procured are the ones we purchased ourselves, or picked up from the library. You won’t be able to tell the difference in our reviews.

Guest Post Policy

  1. Between 250 and 900 words in length;
  2. Topics can be about geek-ish things, books, publishing, writing, authors, craft tips, speculative fiction, blogging, or otherwise relevant to this blog and its followers;
  3. The materials must be received a minimum of 3 days before your scheduled post date;
  4. Please include your bio, social media / buy links, picture, book covers & blurb, etc. with your materials;
  5. Make the post as reader-friendly as possible (i.e. graphics, bullets, links, colors, humor, etc.)
  6. Giveaways are not mandatory, but are strongly recommended in order to help increase traffic and reader participation;
  7. It’s advisable that you make yourself available the day of your guest post to respond to reader comments;
  8. Original content only;

Spotlights Policy

  1. Excerpts should be between 250 and 500 words in length;
  2. The materials must be received a minimum of 3 days before your scheduled spotlight date;
  3. Please include your bio, social media / buy links, picture, book covers & blurb, etc. with your materials;
  4. Giveaways are not mandatory, but are strongly recommended in order to help increase traffic and reader participation;

  1. Send the title, publisher, publication date, genre, and a link to your website.
  2. Blurbs should be roughly 250 words in length;
